I have a toothache what do I do?

Have a toothache and not sure what may be causing it? There can be many different reasons for a toothache.

If you have a toothache it can be cause by several different things such as:

  • Tooth Decay
  • Tooth fracture
  • Abscessed tooth
  • Damaged filling
  • Grinding
  • Infected gums

Usually the symptoms for a toothache would be pain around or on the tooth which can be sharp, throbbing or constant pain when pressure is applied to the tooth. You can also experience swelling, fever/headache or a foul taste from a possible infected tooth. The pain may come suddenly and can also affect other parts such as your head, ear and jaw.

We recommend seeing the dentist as soon as possible so that we can try and solve the issue. At Signature Smiles Dental we aim to keep emergency appointments available for anyone that needs it but they can fill up very quickly.

Toothache sometimes starts very suddenly. It can cause pain and discomfort that ranges from mild to very severe. The pain may affect not only your tooth, but also your head, ear and jaw. The pain may be constant, throbbing, or it may come and go.
