I think I grind my teeth, what can I do?

Grinding or clenching you teeth can be quite normal but when it is done regularly it can harm your teeth and cause other oral health issues. Often teeth grinding or clenching can be caused stress, medical conditions or missing/crooked teeth.  Grinding tends to happen in your sleep, people tend to not realise they are grinding their teeth however there are signs that might help you find out if you’re grinding or clenching such as having headaches in the morning.

Visiting your dentist can help you find out if you’re grinding or clenching. If this was to go untreated in some cases it can lead to loose or broken teeth and in server cases can break them down so much that implant, crowns, root canals, bridges or denture may be needed. The dentist can help you with your grinding/clenching by making you a custom made nightguard. The nightguard fits over the top of your teeth and is worn while you sleep. This will protect your teeth from any grinding/clenching that might occur overnight.
